This drawing is made of soft pastels. If you have never worked with soft pastel before, it’s chalky like charcoal. It blends together nicely, unlike oil pastel, which gets clumpy. I often like to draw in just black and white, but every now and then I like to “play” with color. This drawing is not completely real. I made it up in my head and decided to create a world of my own. I envisioned a mirror like lake against a dark horizon line, with a sunset of blue, pink, purple and yellow pastels that move out and off the page. When I draw, I like to use my finger tips to blend the colors together, this always gets my fingers and hands all dirty with soft pastel particles. Which is fine with me, I love to get my hands really into my work. It helps me feel like I really am creating something. When I took the pictures of my drawing for my blog, one of them cast this cool prism look.
