This version of Puppy chow is actually healthy.  How you ask.  Well, I’ll tell you the secret ingredient.  It’s the protein powder!  By substituting Chocolate Shaklee Life Energizing Shake mix for the powdered sugar, it adds extra protein and fiber while cutting out extra sugar and carbohydrates.  I also omitted the butter that is traditionally used in puppy chow, this cut a lot of unnecessary fat and calories.

My recipe of Protein Puppy Chow has only four ingredients and is even quicker to make, since there are less ingredients that have to maneuvered.  And, the way I prepare it by melting the peanut butter and chocolate chips in the bowl that the cereal is mixed in, reduces the dishes that are used and therefor have to be washed.

Another fantastic benefit to my Protein Puppy Chow is that by using Chocolate Shaklee Life Energizing Shake mix you are giving your body extra probiotics and prebiotics.  These are built into the protein mix, and let’s face it everyone could use a healthier gut.  So, if you need a healthier dessert or snack to bring to a party or just grobble up yourself, that takes less than 10 minutes to whip up and tastes like heaven, then try my healthier version of this classic treat!

Ingredients

Directions

In a medium size bowl, melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter.  In the microwave cook them for 2 minutes at 50% power, they will look shiny but still have a shape.  Take them out and stir, they should stir together and create a silky texture.  If not then cook them for another 30 seconds at 50% power.  (If you use chocolate chips that have milk in them, they will melt quicker, so cut the cook time in half.)  Once, the peanut butter and chocolate chips are completely smooth, add in the chex cereal and stir to coat the cereal.  Then, take a gallon size ziplock bag and scoop the cereal into the bag, then add in the protein powder and shake to coat the cereal.  Makes eight servings.  Enjoy!
