Clean Your Home Quickly and 100% Natural!

Clean Your Home Quickly and 100% Natural!

I love, love, love a tidy and clean house!  Do I like cleaning, not so much.  Since, I love the after affect of cleaning I do it with the satisfaction of knowing that in the end I will get something I love.  However, there are those times when I really, really, really don’t feel like cleaning, and the house is in desperate need of a cleaning, or at least in my opinion it needs a good cleaning.  Those days, I find myself asking questions, like why do I have that side table an inch too close to the bed so that I can’t get the vacuum between them?  I have the room to move the table over that one..little...inch.  It would make vacuuming easier.  I wouldn’t have to move the table every time I vacuumed.  Why don’t I just move it over?  Even though in my mind it originally looked perfect just where it is.  Is it really worth it to have the table over one inch just to look a tiny bit better?  In the end, the answer is Move the table and Stop making things overly difficult.  So, after many, many, many days of going through a silly charade just like this.  I have come up with a list of 21 (plus 3 bonus) ways to make cleaning your home easier, faster and 100% Natural!

...Aren't these bottles of organic super cleaner bright and fun.  See just because you clean all-naturally doesn't mean that the bottles have to be boring!

General Cleaning Tips

  1. If you have the room, move furniture apart enough to get the vacuum in between furniture so you don’t have to move it every time you vacuum.

  2. Keep all your cleaning supplies together, including rags.  Use cleaners that are multi-purpose and natural so you have less to lug around the house and don’t cause breathing issues which will not only affect your health but will cause you to move slower because of the toxins.

  3. Before you dust, vacuum, or clean hard surfaces, strip the bed and wash the sheets.  Your bed is the most dusty place in your home, and when removing them you toss a lot of dust into the air to settle on the surrounding surfaces, including yourself.

  4. Reduce your nick nacks, this will save time and effort dusting.  In the very least use simple nick nacks that don’t have a lot of crevices to dust.

  5. Clean from top to bottom (except the sheets), because the little bit of dust that gets pushed back into the air while vacuuming, is nothing compared to what is sitting on the hard surfaces that should be dusted and cleaned first.

  6. When cleaning surfaces, change the rag you use often so that way you aren’t putting dust and dirt back on the surfaces.  Even though this will cause you to wash a few more little rags, you are already washing a rag or two anyways, so what’s a few more.

  7. If you really want to cut down on the time it takes to dust, a swiffer duster is great.  Especially for high things, which require climbing on furniture to get them.

  8. Although, dusting with a swiffer doesn’t seem to keep the dust away as well as using dust cleaner with a rag.  I suggest using the swiffer for high things only and a rag with dust cleaner for lower things.  Again, be careful to not use aerosol sprays, they are terrible for you to breath in.  I like Shaklee’s Basic H2 super organic cleaner, and a microfiber cloth, it keeps the dust away for days and days, plsu it's all ntaural and the safest thing to use.

  9. Use a separate microfiber cloth for glass surfaces, like mirrors and windows, they won’t leave streaks, which saves you time from not having to redo them over and over.

  10. Use a disinfecting wipe for light switches, door knobs and remotes instead of a spray. Germ Off Wipes are a great natural alternative to the toxin filled clorox wipes.

  11. If you have hard surface floors and use a broom for little messes, don’t use the same broom inside as you do outside, because you will just bring in more dirt from outside making your quick clean up take longer.

  12. If you have a house that doesn’t have lots of outlets or the outlets aren’t in the right places, or the outlets are covered by furniture, or your vacuum has a short cord which causes you to unplug and replug it in often.  Add an extension cord on the end of the vacuum cord and keep it on the vacuum.

  13. Invest in a good vacuum, if you can.  This is a great time saver, especially if you have hard surface floors.  Because if you have to vacuum the same spot two or three times to get it clean, then that’s causing you to spend an extra two to three times the amount of time vacuuming.  If you have hard surface floors a broom is fine for small messes, but a good vacuum will get rid of debris instead of just pushing it around.  I love my dyson!

  14. Use a multi-purpose cleaner that can clean everything and I mean everything. From a pillow or leather couch cushion, to a wooden table, a flat screen TV, houseplants, to counters and floors.  This will make cleaning so much easier, and you won’t have to lug a bunch of different cleaners around the house.  It will also save room on storage.  The only cleaner that I know of that can clean literally clean every surface is Basic H2.  It’s an organic super cleaner that is concentrated so it’s super cost saving too!

Laundry Tips

  1. Use laundry detergent that will treat stains in the wash, so that way you don’t have to pre-treat stains.  I love Shaklee’s Fresh Laundry and their Nature Bright Laundry Booster and Stain Remover.  Just add it to the laundry when you wash it and it keeps colors from bleeding onto other clothes and removes tough stains.

  2. If you have a really tough stain, pretreat it with Basic H2, which is an Organic Super Cleaner.  Spray the stain multiple times to get it really wet with the cleaner (don’t worry about it soaking through because it’s all natural and organic) and as it dries the stain will magically disappear or become much lighter.  Then, just add to the next load of laundry and wash with the Nature Bright Laundry Booster and Stain Remover and the stain will be gone!

Bathroom Cleaning Tips

  1. Put the toilet cleaner in the toilet and then while it is doing it’s work on the bowl, clean the sink and mirror and outside of toilet.

  2. Let the shower cleaner sit for a few minutes before scrubbing, making sure to use a truly natural kind, otherwise you risk health issues and breathing issues.

  3. If there is mold in the shower use a pre-soak spray before scrubbing it away made of a ratio of 1:3, white vinegar to water.  Then spray with a disinfectant, to keep it from coming back so you don’t have to scrub it away next time you clean.  Again, be careful to not use bleach or another type of toxin filled cleaner, because these cause breathing issues and health problems, did I mention that already?  I like Shaklee’s Basic G disinfectant, it's super concentrated, which makes it last a lifetime, because you don't need to use much just 3/8 tsp per 16 oz spray bottle of water.

Kitchen Cleaning Tips

  1. Don’t pre-wash the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher, you are just doing the dishwashers job twice.  If you have tried this but still have leftover residue on your dishes, then pre-rinse super quickly.  Or get a good dish cleaner that removes the need to pre-rinse, like Shaklee’s Dish Washer Automatic Powder Concentrate.

  2. To disinfect the counters use a disinfecting spray that you just spray and let it air dry and it does the work for you, instead of having to wipe the germs away.  Shaklee has a great disinfectant that does just that, Basic G.

Bonus Cleaning Tips...

  1. If you really just can’t get yourself to clean the house, get your kids or spouse to do it.

  2. If it’s close to Halloween skip the dusting and say it’s part of the spooky decor.

  3. If all else fails, turn off the lights.
