Spring Collage

Spring Collage

This is the first collage I have made.  I don’t know why it took me so long to make a collage, but it was worth the wait.  I had wanted to make one for quite some time, but never took the time to do it.  That is, until I had to make one in a design class I was taking last spring.  I wanted to use tools, gears and gadgets and then paint them with acrylic paint to make it more cohesive.  Some of the items I used are things that were in my grandpa’s shop.  My papa would would spent hours in his shop designing, creating and building inventions.  He was an inventor and a great one too.  He just lacked the finances to patent his inventions.  Other items that I used in this collage are gears my brother gave me and miscellaneous tools and things that I found around my house or in my hubby’s tool box.  The fun part was laying out the pattern or design and then glueing the pieces onto the painted canvas.  When, I first imagined the collage I wanted it to look like a cross between steampunk and a bright impressionist spring scene.  I think that the end result is the perfect combination of the two.
