I love chocolate! I love coconut! And, almonds are a great source of protein and healthy fats. The combo of these three ingredients in a smoothie are fantastic. Not just the taste either. The healthy benefits of coconut and almonds are fantastic as well.
Coconut, even when dried and shredded into flakes are nutritious for the body. Coconut flakes have lots of fiber to keep everything in the gut moving along. Shredded coconut flakes also have a good amount of iron, which most people don’t realize. Iron is important for everyone, but even more so for women of childbearing age.
Almonds help lower bad cholesterol, which reduces the chance of heart disease. The antioxidants in almonds help clean up free radicals from the body. This is super beneficial for the body. Almonds contain manganese, copper and riboflavin, these minerals give the body energy. Everyone could use more energy. In a nutshell, this smoothie is healthy and delicious. I love it with a tablespoon of dark chocolate chips, gotta love chocolate!
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Makes one serving. Enjoy!
