I made these bites, because I know that a lot of people have allergies to peanuts or many tree nuts. I also know that many people have gluten, dairy and soy allergies too. I only think it’s fair to make a delicious protein bite for those that are out there that have dietary restrictions. So, I simply came up with this quick and allergy free protein bite recipe.
Since, my son is going to preschool now, when I’m the snack mom, I need to bring foods that are wholesome, but free of all tree nuts. There are also kids in his class that have gluten and dairy allergies. Which I totally relate to. Also, some of the kids can’t have soy. So, that limits the options.
This is a great snack to make for after school, because it has lots of protein and fiber in each bite. Plus, it has healthy fats and carbohydrates. You could even have the kids help whip these easy bites up. My little guy loves to stir and roll them into balls. But, his favorite part is eating them once they are freshly made. These are also a great snack to bring with anywhere, because they don’t have to be refrigerated. Try them out for yourself whether you have allergies or not.
In a small bowl, melt the sunflower seed butter slightly in the microwave for 30 seconds, if taken from the refrigerator. This makes it easier to blend. Add the honey and stir to combine. Then, add in the protein powder and stir to combine. Finally, add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Scoop spoonfuls and roll into about 2 inch balls. Makes twelve bites. Enjoy!
