I have to admit I do love me some pecan pie, I prefer it to pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. It’s gooey and sweet, yet salty and the smell is just devine. However, it’s not a very healthy dessert option. However, the pecans in it are healthy. In moderation of course.
Pecans boost digestive health, support heart health, and reduce blood pressure and the risk of stroke. They also cut your risk change of breast cancer. The benefits don’t stop there, they also have anti-inflammatories. Pecans also keep you from having muscle soreness, which makes this smoothie a perfect after workout snack or meal.
Most traditional pecan pies have 450-525 calories per slice and 50 to 70 grams of carbs, but only 5 grams of protein. Such a shame, you would think that a pie that is made of a bunch of pecans would have more protein than that. Well, there is good news! My Pecan Pie Smoothie is much lower in calories and carbs. Plus it has plenty of protein and healthy fats to keep you happy and full.
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Makes one serving. Enjoy!
