Since I have a love affair with chai tea lattes, and it’s the apple cider season, I thought why not combine the two and create a fantastically dreamy dessert type drink. This smoothie is fantastic warm! It truly tastes like you combined a cup of spiced apple cider with a creamy chai tea latte.
When I first came up with the brilliant idea of making this smoothie, I couldn’t wait to prepare it so that way I could devour it. Which I literally did. And, then wanted seconds because it was so good. But, I was too full, so I didn’t make another one. Atleast not right away. I did make another one the following day and drank it warmed up. Oh my goodness, talk about heaven!
When making this smoothie, if you prepare the tea ahead of time, it really cuts the prep time down. I always have a batch of chilled chai tea in the fridge for when I have a craving for a chai tea latte over ice. Which is pretty much daily. And, now I have yet another way of drinking my beloved chai tea lattes, in the form of a decadent Apple Cider Chai Tea Latte Smoothie. Yum!
To prepare the tea, boil a little over 8 oz of water. Once boiled pour over tea bag in a mug and steep for 10 - 12 minutes (or double the suggested steep time). You can use it right away or if you do this ahead of time put the tea in the fridge until you are ready to make the smoothie. This will cut the prep time for the smoothie down to only a few minutes. Or you can use store bought pre-made chia tea mix, but those often have not so good for you ingredients. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Makes one serving. Enjoy!
