When I made this smoothie, I was thinking of either a York peppermint patty or an Andes chocolate mint. Both are tasty treats. Neither is a healthy option though. To tackle those cravings for a chocolatey mint dessert, I came up with my Chocolate Mint Smoothie.
The first time I made this was over a year ago and I still am enjoying this delicious smoothie. The dark chocolate in this smoothie is not only decadent but it also has health benefits too. It has a bunch of antioxidants, these are great for a number of reasons, but the most beneficial is reducing inflammation in the body.
Dark chocolate also reduces the likelihood of cardiovascular disease. It also lowers blood pressure and bad cholesterol. Of course, all these health perks don’t mean you should eat a diet of just dark chocolate. The body needs healthy fats and proteins, and quality carbohydrates. One, way to make sure your body is getting enough of these, is by drinking a high quality protein shake mix, like Shaklee’s Life Energizing Shake mix. This ingredient is what makes this smoothie truly healthy.
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Can top with more chocolate chips or broken Ande's Mint pieces. Makes one serving. Enjoy!
